# 62 Net Worth

A famous basketball player said once "I ain't no role model" Truer words were never spoken! But in real life we do not get to say don't look at me. We are always sending messages to those around us and to those we love. We send these messages by what we say, (or don't say) and by what we do, (or don't do). We are all role models, like it or not. Others look to you to see what what you will accept or reject.
Be mindful that it is a combination of both. The old saying "do as I say not as I do" will not work.
Look for ways this week to improve YOUR net worth.

Your net worth to the world is usually determined by what remains after your bad habits are subtracted from your good ones.

Proverbs 10-20
The tongue of the righteous is choice silver; the mind of the wicked is of little worth.

# 61 Changes

We all have the power to choose many things. Sometimes I wonder about the choices I have made the good the bad and the real ugly. My youth was a collection of bad choices, until made a really good one, I got married! In fact that could be the best decision and change, I have ever made. This week has been filled with some hard choices about change, I always try and follow the golden rule and treat people the way I want to be treated. Things change, people change, sometimes it for the best.
Do you have something you need to change?

"Well if nothing changes; nothing changes".
Joe, a recovering alcoholic

1 Corinthians 15

51 Lo! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed.

# 60 Homeless

This week I have been given hard news to remind me that this world is not our home.
Life can be difficult at times when you think of some thing or some one in a certain way and find out you did not really know the truth. When we do get to our eventual home we will leave behind the disappointments of this life. I listened this week to a homeless man in Houston giving his advice to others.
Put Your Faith in God
Put Your Trust in Your Dogs
Put Your Hope in Man
I think he had it right. If you put your faith and trust in people ..you will be disappointed at some point.

Sirach 2
You who fear the Lord, wait for his mercy;
and turn not aside, lest you fall.
You who fear the Lord, trust in him,
    and your reward will not fail;

# 59 Decisions

As I am sure you have guessed by now I am fond of a good quote.
I heard one today that prompted this writing:
If it is important, you will find a way, if it is not you will find an excuse.
We all have the chance to make many decisions every day, I would encourage you to look at your decisions and see what is important to you!
"In any moment of decision, the best thing to do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing
and the worst thing to do is nothing."
Theodore Roosevelt

It doesn't matter which side of the fence you get off on sometimes. What matters most is getting off. You cannot make progress without making decisions.

Psalm 14
The Lord looks down from heaven upon the children of men,
to see if there are any that act wisely,
    that seek after God.

# 58 Prepare

I was privileged recently to be able to speak to a group of ladies at our church. As part of my preparation I used a little game that tricks your vision. It is a reminder to me, that we all like to tell ourselves we are smarter and more prepared than we really are.None of us knows the future. Yes, we should make provisions for our loved ones, but not at the expense of our faith, and giving. None of us are here forever. You will be in heaven (hopefully) for eternity. Prepare for it!

I don't know what the future holds, but I know who holds the future.
Billy Graham

John 14 “Let not your hearts be troubled; believe  in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And when I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.

# 57 Moms!

When your mother calls your name, you know her voice.
When we were kids and mom called, you knew it!
There is a very special bond between a mother and her children and I am in no way going to try and explain it. I have been blessed to have had a great mother, a great wife and mother  to our children, and great daughter in-laws who are great mothers to our grandchildren.
Happy Mothers Day to all of you who are mothers.
God Bless You!

Proverbs 31
10 A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies.
11 Her husband has full confidence in her
    and lacks nothing of value.
12 She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.
13 She selects wool and flax
    and works with eager hands.

# 56 Be Quiet

I just got back from a few days in the mountains of Utah. Yes there is still plenty of snow in May!
I took the time to fish some, pray some, and get some photography work done.
Today so many of us are tethered to our phones and computers or other "technology" that we MUST break free and spend some quiet time and let the dust settle.

Psalm 46

Come, behold the works of the Lord,
how he has wrought desolations in the earth.
He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
he breaks the bow, and shatters the spear,
he burns the chariots with fire!
10 Be still, and know that I am God.
I am exalted among the nations,
I am exalted in the earth!”
